Introduction
The HPS Products Two-Stage Jalapeño Valve consists of a main isolation valve and a soft start
bypass valve, all within one valve body. The Jalapeño Valve is designed to be heated to a minimum
internal temperature of 135°C. Ultem barriers fit between the valve body and actuator caps to limit
temperature within the actuator assembly. Silicone mat heaters with foam insulation are used to heat
the valve. For more information on the heater, please see the MKS Instruments HPS Products Series
46 User's Manual. While the valve is designed to inhibit particulate buildup, periodic cleaning of
the valve internals may be necessary to maintain proper valve operation and conductance.
